Facebook Advertising- Torrid

Torrid is a brand that I shop often, so I felt it would be interesting to look on Facebook to see how they are advertising their brand.
I found that they often post pictures of their latest styles, especially the ones that would appeal the most to the season (sundresses, tank tops, shorts, etc).

The above picture is advertised as "Because we're ladies on the go " with an airplane emoji at the end of the sentence. Using keywords such as "on the go" would suggest that their clothes are good for working, or busy women, which would definitely appeal to a large audience.

The target audience of Torrid is plus-size women, as they carry sizes 10-30. Specifically, they aim to provide fashionable clothing as it's difficult to find cute but comfy clothes in larger sizes.

For the most part, I feel like they are running an effective campaign for their product, but there are some reasons to believe that their customers aren't always happy with it. For instance, Torrid posted a photo with a sketch of their original idea for a dress, and then the final product. Many commenters were upset that the sketch artist would use a "skinny" model to sketch the idea on, when it is meant for bigger girls. One commenter named Dee Hearth wrote, "Why did the designer, Danielle Williams, draw a sketch using a skinny model. If I was the boss of Tori's [Torrid], I'd send her back to make a new realistic drawing. I see it as insulting to big women."

Overall, I feel like Torrid has done a nice job advertising their company through Facebook. They upload new photos almost daily, and interact with customer comments. One of the things that I feel might help them grow their customer base is adding some "famous-person testimonials." When companies have a celebrity as the face of their company, it tends to stick in a persons mind that "well so and so wears this brand, so it must be worth it!" Torrid could definitely benefit from adding this sort of  strategy to their advertising.
