Hello, all! My name is Kristen Peterson. I'm a 21 year old college student/teaching assistant/mother who is trying to kick start my future as fast as I possibly can! I live in Sweet Home, OR and have pretty much my entire life. I moved here when I was four from Pennsylvania and was born in Southern California. I have two cats, Zeus and Zoey; and my family whom I love very much which includes my boyfriend and daughter.
 
I am currently going to LBCC to complete my AAOT degree, which will actually be done by the end of this summer and I get to graduate this fall, woo! I begin working towards my Bachelors of Education degree at Pacific University starting the end of August. My end goal is to become a first grade teacher, but I'd also be content teaching kindergarten or second graders. I finally found my passion for teaching in the last few years, so I quickly jumped back into my schooling after take two years off, and now I have a short two years to go.
 
I'm interested in learning how media works, and the power of it. Being part of the millennial generation, I feel like I have more experience and knowledge of media than older generations, but there is always more to learn. I'm sure there are ton's of things that I'm completely uneducated on! I have seen the power media has specifically in all of the political events that have taken place recently.
 
I am passionate about my family. I have an almost two year old daughter named Isabelle, and a long term boyfriend whom I've been with for nearly five years now. I've never understood a parents love until I had her; seeing her learn milestones and become a mini-human has been the most rewarding experience. Apart from my little family, I live close to my mother who just finished her last chemo treatment for Breast Cancer. She is my rock throughout my schooling and parenting adventures. I couldn't imagine where I'd be at without these people in my life.

J-14 Magazine    Over the years I have read quite a few magazines but the top ones that were in my life are the following: J-14 : the typical magazine for pre-teens that always gave you posters to plaster all over your walls. This was my jam back in the day mainly because I thought I was cool to have all the new posters and keep up with the celebrities of my age. The bright colors and interesting information helped as well.    Seventeen : The best magazine for makeup tips, fashion, and taboo advice. I always loved the prom edition of this magazine so I could fawn over these beautiful dresses and imagine what my own prom would be like. I particularly liked that they had a question and answer section, an embarrassing story section, and also a part where they would talk about a real life person and their personal story.   Star : Gossip magazine 100%. Music's influence

My mind immediately went back to my 10 year old self. My best friend at the time was around different kinds of music than I was. My parents only listened to country and old school rock, whereas her parents listened to rap and heavy metal type of stuff. I'll never forget being this little 4th grader and knowing the words to Eminem's "Superman." I'll include a link of that song so you guys can get a hint of what kind of music my innocent mind was rapping out loud. Fair warning: pretty raunchy lyrics. Superman by Eminem   For my 10th birthday, I begged my mom to buy me Eminem's album "Curtain Call." Of course, when I finally did convince her, she bought the clean version so there's a bunch of bleeps throughout the songs. Something I remember the most is the cashier whom checked us out that day. Fake News

President Donald Trump   "Fake News" is a term that has stormed our nation, thanks to our new President. I think it's sad how this man believes anything he doesn't agree with is "fake." Yes, I'm sure there are details that are altered, that happens, but calling an entire news station that many look to as a news source (CNN) fake because he doesn't like their opinions on him... it happens. People have their opinions and it's OKAY for opinions to be said, especially if it's about a person so high up. If anything, we shouldn't be holding out on a person who is so important, we need to be able to hear what investigators are truly finding out.   I agree that the President is harming our first amendment to a point, but at the same time, he isn't forcing these news stories to be deleted. Yet at the same time, it's possible that his attacks are making journalists afraid to write columns that have negative thoughts towards him,
